Mpohor Constituency united for victory – incumbent MP
Mr Alex Kofi Agyekum, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpohor has appealed to all New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful in the constituency to forgive one another, bury their differences and unite for an overwhelming victory in the December 7, general elections.
He also entreated the electorates to shun the idea of voting what he call “skirt and blouse” voting pattern but to vote for Mr John Sanie as the Member of Parliament and retain Nana Akufo-Addo as President come December 7.
He said, the interest of the party is paramount hence, the need to work with his contender in the primaries and his supporters with the view to achieving unity and cohesion at the constituency which is key to the party retaining the parliamentary seat as well as the presidential elections.
According to the MP who spoke in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the sidelines of the campaign launch, though he lost to Mr John Sanie there had not been a winner and there had not been a loser since the biggest beneficiary and for that matter the real winner is the NPP.
Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, a Member of the Council of Elders and a former Western Regional Minister called for a united front devoid of all wranglings and to forge ahead as they work hard to give four more for President Nana Akufo-Addo and retain the seat.
He urged members of the Campaign Team and the party faithfuls to sell the good work and policies initiated by the NPP government to win more people to the fold of the party.
Western Regional Minister, Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah commended the peaceful cohesion between the incumbent and the Parliamentary Candidate and urged the party faithfuls to emulate that in order to eliminate all grudges among them prior to the party’s primaries to form a united front.
He noted that the number one challenge of the constituency is the main road joining Kajebil to the Mpohor Town and explained that the contract was abrogated because the previous failed to meet the target and the standard.
Mr Darko-Mensah gave the assurance that the contract has been awarded to a more credible contractor who has already mobilised to site and would make ready the road soon to alleviate the challenges posed by the road.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mpohor District, Ignatius Asaah Mensah who asked the team to redouble their efforts by moving from door-to-door to market the party to the electorates and urged the team to showcase the numerous development projects executed by party in the constituency.
He urged the polling station executives to be vigilant to widen the gap of votes in the 2020 Parliamentary polls.
Mr John Kobina Abam Abuah Sanie, Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency in the 2020 election called for unity among the rank and file of the party as they forge ahead to propagate the achievements of the party to the electorates.
According to him, he was nearly dropped out of school which could have jeopardized his dreams and aspirations and deemed the Free SHS Policy of the NPP as a step in the right direction for which reason the constituents should vote massively for the NPP to continue the good works.
To this wake, he mentioned the construction of a Senior High School as a cardinal part of his vision when given the mandate to become the next legislator for the people since the only senior high school that serves the district is in the district capital which is far from other areas of the district making it difficult for students from there to have access.
He will also focus on employment in particular agriculture to make it attractive to the youth so as to shun illegal mining also known as “galamsey”.
