Free SHS commences today

The Free Senior High School programme kicks off in all public senior high schools across the country today.
The programme which was the incumbent New Patriotic Party’s flagship campaign promise during the 2016 general elections will see the government catering for the cost of tuition amongst a host of other fees.
The president, Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to officially launch the programme tomorrow Tuesday, 12th September at the West African Senior High School.
Checks by Beach 105.5 FM at the Ghana Secondary Technical School this morning to monitor what progress is being made on the registration process revealed about 40 guardians and parents seated just outside the administration block with their children and wards, waiting to be called forward to submit their placement forms.
At the Bompeh Senior High Technical School, there was a larger crowd and to ensure orderliness, parents and guardians could be seen issuing out numbers to facilitate the process.
As at 9:35 a.m. when our reporters left the school, the numbers had reached 278 parents and guardians seated orderly and waiting for the registration to begin.
Meanwhile, the deadline for the filling of placement forms by prospective senior high school students has been extended to the end of September.
