Don’t go to Africa – Coach Frimpong Manso to Kotoko and AshGold
Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars defender, Frimpong Manso has advised the 2 Ashanti regional clubs to withdraw from participating in the African competition.
“The quality of players alone cannot guarantee you success in Africa. You need to have a good preparation to be able to make an impact in Africa. We all know that since March we have not had sporting activities going on due to the COVID-19. This has made our teams inactive.
The competition is starting in November but as of now, we don’t even know if football will return this September.
Kotoko and Ashgold may not be able to go through the prelims as they will not get much time to prepare. Because they’ll need much time for the players to get much fitness.
Countries like, Egypt, Algeria, Tanzania and others are playing their leagues. Assuming football return at the end of the month, what better preparations can they do?
Yes, they can decide to go but what impact can they make? That’s the problem.
I think they will not get much time to prepare so they should not participate in it” he told Accra based Hello fm
Asante Kotoko are yet to confirm their participation for the competition to the GFA after receiving the notice.
