Below is the statement
Good evening colleagues. Western Region has
unfortunately increased in our number of Covid-19 cases from 1 case to 9 cases.
2 of cases are from Ezema East (Axim hospital) and remaining 6 cases are from
STM (1 each from Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Takoradi hospital and the
remaining 4 samples were taken by the Metropolitan response team. So now we are
into case management. From the case based forms all confirmed cases are
asymptomatic but aggressive contact tracing should start from tomorrow.
Specimen samples are to be taken from all contacts and sent to Noguchi.
Contacts should be examined and those with symptoms quarantined either self or
facility based. Case management protocols have been sent by Dr. Atsu Dodor.
Those in doubt should contact him for directions. Hospitals should be prepared
to manage severe cases. All affected Medical Superintendents and DDHSs have
been notified of the details of the affected persons and the results. In view
of the exponential nature of infections by Covid-19 we need to brace ourselves
for more cases. We should test all suspected cases, trace contacts and treat
those affected. We need to strengthen our health education messages and
emphasize on preventive measures. Wearing of face mask (FDA approved) is
mandatory and as health workers let’s lead in that direction. We received
another batch of logistics which we in the process of distributing. We should
all remain resolute and we shall prevail. God bless us all. Thank you.
